Gallagher Caribbean Group Officially Opens

Gallagher Caribbean Group officially opened its business here in St Lucia. The opening ceremony was held on Tuesday this week at the Caribbean Cinemas at Choc/Union. Approximately sixty people were in attendance including the current supervisor for Insurance Companies and Permanent Secretary in the Minister of Finance Isaac Anthony. Also present among the guests and officials at the function were branch Manager for CGM St Lucia Waren Montgomery, Chairman, CEO and President of Arthur Gallagher Patrick Gallagher Managing Director for Gallagher Caribbean Group Saundra Bailey, Chairman of the CGM Group Joseph Matalon, Norman Forster, Vikram Neman, Martin Goddard, Patrick Gallagher, Director for Gallagher Caribbean Group, and President of the Insurance Council Claudius Francis.

Founded in 1971, the CGM Group, the Caribbean's largest regional risk and insurance intermediary partnered with the Arthur J. Gallagher Group the fourth largest broking company in the world. GM Group is an insurance intermediary and risk management company that provides property, casualty, health, risk management, reinsurance and modeling services to clients throughout the Caribbean.


Gallagher Caribbean Group provides first class insurance risk management solutions including bespoke insurance coverage, to hotel operations in the region and also Insurance Risk management for the Construction industry. The firm supports the local insurance industry in every territory where it conducts business and work closely with all reputable insurers within the region to provide the cover needed by clients.

In his address to the gathering former registrar of insurance Companies, Nestor Alfred said that he had no doubt that the merger between CGM and Gallagher would be a rewarding experience for the stakeholders and their clients equally. However, he urged the brokers to utilize their expertise and professionalism to address clients' interests. Additionally he said that he believed the time was now ripe for brokers to organize themselves into a group with reference to their growth and development.
CEO Patrick Gallagher expressed much elation at the merger and said that the partnership was very significant for St Lucia in light of the expanding economy. Having started in the business as a retail broker, he was especially enthused at the development that he would now be dealing with, addressing the overall clientele of the Company.
Meanwhile, John Roachford of CGM Jamaica said that the right choice was made by developing the partnership.
